Rather fond of it myself, but only in a utilitarian manner. I can't stand all this racey business, for me it is all about getting from A to B in a relaxed and enjoyable fashion, haven't owned a car in decades and feel sorry for those who do. Not quite sure what the point of this thread is as I am a bit pished! Feel free to join in!

Yes, very keen.^_^ Fairly leisurely riding for me too, often with photo stops on the way.

I bimble along here in Wales, and i also seem to spend more time stopping and taking photos. I confess to being a fair weather cyclist. I don't mind a cold brisk day, but i hate windy and wet weather.

Oh, well: I'm Shropshire based so lots of choice of terrain and scenery within easy reach. It's mostly road riding on quieter roads and lanes with the odd bits of bridleway thrown in.

I've taken part in the Imperial Century Challenge (at least 1 ride a month of 100 miles or more) over on CycleChat so have got in a fair few miles this year and mix my riding between my knockabout bike which started out as a £100 mountain bike but almost all components have been replaced, my Raleigh Pioneer Jaguar which I bought new back in 1998 and have modified as bits wore out and a rather nice late 90s Dawes Galaxy that I bought from a work colleague last year and spruced up.

That is pretty hardcore, Phil! I have only ridden 2 centuries, one intentionally and the other unintentionally when I got lost in Montanna ( Hilly and fully loaded)
You gotta love an old frame with new parts! Mine's a Specialized Sirrus Comp circa 2000 with a Surly steel front fork, Shwalbe Supreme 38mm tyres, Thudbuster, and a Brooks! Sublime! Really! So comfortable!

IMG_4387.JPG Ah the sublime romance of bicycling the open road.
One has been known to venture out upon two wheels from time to time.
It is a practice with much to be recommended.

    It's a Brookes model B33 saddle.
Most comfy saddle that I have ever experienced.

With my old gel saddle I often wore those foam-nappy shorts under my trews, and still got a sore erse.
Nary a twinge since the Brookes arrived.
All is now well, 'South of the Equator'.
