In a news report today, 50 high profile people including celebrities are calling for a ban on boiling lobsters and crabs as they feel pain and are sentient beings.

However, while they want Michael Gove to ban the practise, and state that there are more effective ways to dispatch lobsters and crabs, they failed to tell anyone in the news report how to achieve this.

Surely it would be prudent to tell people of a much better way to humanely kill them, which in turn would prevent suffering of the animals?

Does anyone know how to dispatch lobsters and crabs in a better more humane way?

When I need to humanly dispatch my fish, I pop them in the freezer. Being cold blooded that part just stops their metabolism. You can then give them a good wack to finish the job.
Should work on crabs, but I usually use some lotion from the chemist.
