Mythological duality

    Because when they make it up they nick bits from all the other sky fairy mythologies that have gone before...

    As a species we've been making this crap up for so long that it all tends to blur into a single homogenous strand of God bothering bullshit..

    Because humans generally like to settle near a water source, and water sources flood.

    Our ancient ancestors possibly started out living close to the sea, given that opportunity.
    Super tides aren't that uncommon - over time.
