Settlement of Syria civil war?

    While one hopes so the various opposition forces have little in common other than a desire to see back of Assad. Even if, and it's a big If, he goes it's difficult to see them not turning on each other. A longer term solution may need re-drawing of boundaries in both Syria and Iraq but of course if that empowers Kurds then Turkey will have something to say.........

    I doubt Russia will stop supporting Assad. They are too committed to back down now. Despite the use of chemical weapons and the Western outcry Russia will not be told what to do by the West. The US cannot afford a war. So what happens to the poor people caught up in it all? Seeing the plight of the refugees puts all the commercialism of Christmas into perspective.
