Why do we still need to move the clocks forwards and backwards an hour? Shouldn’t we just scrap DST?

    Farmers like DST.
    I have no idea why.

Which way should it be locked though? Most of us I'm sure like it to be light as late as possible in the height of summer but I wouldn't enjoy sunrise being at 9.30am in the depths of winter if we were to stick to summer time all year round.

(I'm in Shropshire by the way, so hardly the far flung north.)

Well there's a worldwide system already in use, UTC. If we've to change stick with that.

I'd say fix it at GMT+1.

The Scottish crofters will just have to go on e-bay and buy some nice LED lights.

GMT +2 was brought in for the South of the country, not the North. They wanted more daylight down there.

    Now that is an idea.

Fix it at GMT+1 for winter and then +2 for summer. Daylight until 11pm would be nice.

I like it as it is now.
Something to look forward to when the clocks go forward in Spring.
